Fell Foot Park is just a 20-minute drive from Joiner’s Mews. We love to take Bunty for an early morning walk. A National Trust property – so parking is free for members – there is lots to enjoy. At the moment there is redevelopment work going on but there is a temporary café serving hot and cold drinks and snacks – open from 10 am.
Whether you’re into running, walking, swimming or boating, there’s always something to do at Fell Foot.
Enjoy a tranquil walk or run
Every Saturday at 9am the ‘Park Run’ uses the fantastic run route – twice around the circuit give the required 5km
You can walk the route which gives you a chance to explore all the best bits of the park and admire the views up the lake. This is an easy meadow walk where it’s possible to admire wild flowers, butterflies and birds surrounded by the sounds of nature. At the moment Canada Geese are in residence, see photo below. In the old arboretum you can discover a variety of specimen trees.
On the water
Fancy a duck’s-eye view of the Lake District from Windermere itself? With easy lake access, the park is ideal for paddling, swimming and boating. Rowboat hire (between April and October) and Lake cruises are just a few ways to make the most of the lakeside location.
From Fell Foot you can take the ferry across to Lakeside, where you’ll find the southern terminus of Windermere Lake Cruises and the access point for steamers up the lake.
